A full-size crib (about 30" ร 54") fits here: along the 108" wall it leaves 54" of wall beside it. The squeeze is depth. With the crib along one 96" wall, a 20"-deep dresser opposite, and 36" in front of the dresser, you have 96 โ 30 โ 20 โ 36 = 10" to spare. That works, but there's no room for a glider in that line. A mini crib (outside usually around 26" ร 40") frees up about 14" each way, which is often enough for a small chair.
Crib on one wall, dresser on the opposite wall: 108 โ 30 โ 20 = 58" of floor between them, which comfortably covers 36" in front of the drawers plus a walkway. A non-reclining glider fits in the corner beside the crib if the door is on another wall.
This fits the full set: crib, 6-drawer dresser (about 55โ62" wide) with a changing topper, and a glider. For the full walkthrough, see the 9x10 crib and dresser layout guide.
Type in your room's size, add your crib and dresser, and see which of these layouts fits your walls.
Try it with your room, free โ| Space | Comfortable | Tight but workable |
|---|---|---|
| Main walkway | 30โ36" | 24" |
| In front of dresser drawers | 36" | 30" |
| Beside the crib (your side) | 30" | 24" |
| Door swing | Keep the full arc clear | A rug is fine, furniture isn't |
A separate changing table, a big toy chest, and a full-size bookcase are the usual pieces that don't earn their space early on. A rolling cart or a hanging organizer handles diapers and wipes in less floor.
A full-size crib is about 30" ร 54", so the hard minimum is a room where that plus a 24โ30" path fits, roughly 7 ร 7 ft. Practically, about 8 ร 9 ft is where a crib and dresser fit comfortably together.
It can be. A mini crib saves about 14" in each direction, which can be the difference between fitting a chair or not. The trade-off is that babies outgrow it sooner, so check the height and weight limits.
On the wall farthest from the window, out of the door's swing, and not under shelves or wall decor. In small rooms that's often the wall opposite the door.
Yes. A low dresser with a changing topper inside an open closet is a common small-room setup. Anchor the dresser to the wall, and keep supplies within reach so you never step away from the baby.
