DaVinci Kalani crib dimensions: will it fit your nursery?

Short answer: DaVinci lists the Kalani 4-in-1 crib at 54½" long, 35" wide and 42" tall, with a 52" × 28" inside that takes a standard crib mattress. It's about 13 sq ft of floor, and it's about 5" wider than a lot of full-size cribs, so measure the wall you want it on. It fits a 10x10 nursery with a 6-drawer dresser and a glider.

DaVinci Kalani measurements

MeasurementKalani 4-in-1
Length (outside)54½"
Width (outside)35" (DaVinci); one retailer lists 37"
Height (tallest end)42"
Top of front rail to floor35"
Inside (mattress area)52" × 28" (standard US crib mattress; sold separately)
Weight56 lb assembled
Floor areaabout 13 sq ft

The length is normal for a full-size crib. The width is the number to watch: DaVinci lists 35", while many full-size cribs are 29–31". Target's listing says 37", so plan for 35–37" and measure the crib once it's built if you're tight. Sizes are from DaVinci's product page (checked October 2026); check the listing for your color and version.

How it compares, drawn to scale

Floor footprints at the same scale, with lines every 12". The Kalani is about as long as the IKEA Gulliver and Babyletto Hudson but about 5" wider.

Five inches doesn't sound like much, but in a small room it's the difference between a 30" walkway and a 25" squeeze. If your room is 9 ft or less across, compare it with the IKEA Gulliver (29½" wide) or the Babyletto Hudson (29¾").

Kalani on the left wall, toward the door end and away from the window. A 60" 6-drawer dresser faces it on the right wall with 36" of drawer space in front. The glider sits in the top-left corner and reclines toward the window. Scale: 1 ft = 48 px.

Across the room: 120" − 35" crib − 20" dresser = about 63½" between them (we drew ¾" off each wall). Take away 36" for open drawers and about 27" is left to walk, which works (24" is the tight minimum, 30" is comfortable). With a typical 30" crib you'd have about 32". In a 10x11 or bigger, there's room to spare.

Tight on width? Put the Kalani on the long wall and the dresser on a short wall instead of facing each other, or use a 3-drawer dresser (about 18" deep) to win back a couple of inches.

Type in your room's size, add a crib at 54½" × 35", and drag it around your real walls, door and window.

Plan for the conversions

The "4-in-1" means it turns into a toddler bed, a daybed and a full-size bed. The toddler bed and daybed stay roughly on the crib's footprint. The full-size bed is much bigger: a full mattress alone is 54" × 75", and you'll need DaVinci's full-size conversion kit (sold separately). If you plan to keep it that long, make sure the room can take a full bed later.

Before you buy

  1. Measure your room wall to wall, plus the door swing, window and closet. Our measuring guide has a checklist.
  2. Pick a mattress that fits snugly: a standard crib mattress (about 28" × 52"), no more than 6" thick. You shouldn't be able to fit two fingers between the mattress and the crib side.
  3. Plan where it goes before assembly. Our space around a crib cheat sheet has the clearances.
Follow DaVinci's assembly instructions, lower the mattress once your baby can sit or pull up, and keep the crib away from windows and cords. The AAP's safe-sleep guidance is a firm, flat mattress and fitted sheet with nothing else in the crib.
