A few things jump out when you see them side by side. A mini crib, a Pack 'n Play and a bassinet are all roughly the same size, and each saves about 14" of wall over a full-size crib. A 6-drawer dresser takes about as much wall as the crib does. And a reclining glider needs nearly the length of a crib, which is why it's the piece that most often doesn't fit.
Footprints alone will fool you. Each piece also needs working space: about 24β30" beside the crib where you lift the baby, 36" in front of a dresser to open drawers, 15β20" in front of a recliner for the footrest, and a 30" path from the door. Facing zones can share floor. The clearance cheat sheet has the full list and a to-scale 10x10 plan.
Type in your room size, drop these pieces in at their real size, and see what fits before you buy.
Try it with your room, free βInside, every full-size crib sold in the US is 28" Γ 52β " (Β± β "), set by federal rule. Outside, most are about 53Β½β57" long and 29ΒΎβ31" wide, and 35β40" tall. The Babyletto Hudson, for example, is 53ΒΎ" Γ 29ΒΎ" Γ 35".
About 40" Γ 26" outside versus about 54" Γ 30". A mini crib saves roughly 14" of wall and 4" of depth, about 4 sq ft of floor.
Most are 18β20" deep. Width depends on drawers: about 36β43" for 3 drawers and 48β63" for 6β8. Plan 36" of open floor in front to open the drawers.
About 28β34" wide and 30β40" deep sitting up. Recliners extend to about 55β70" deep with the footrest out (the Babyletto Kiwi is 64"), so leave 15β20" in front of a recliner.
Most contoured changing pads are 32" Γ 16", so a dresser top needs to be at least 32" wide and about 18" deep to hold one.
